Last time, I blogged about how I fixed my washing machine that turns slowly. My dryer was also sick at that time that spinned slowly then stopped. After a while it turns slowly again then stop again. I opened the back and saw that unlike the washing machine, the dryer has no belt.
I realized, when my sister had her dryer fixed, she said the capacitor had to be replaced. I suddenly remembered it made perfect sense because it is what starts the motor to turn to full speed. Since my tester’s battery was busted, I cut out the capacitor and brought it to the electronic supply store. When they tested it and compared it to the new one, it was really good as busted. I bought it at P145, if I remember right. I also bought new batteries (9v and 1.5v AA) for my tester. (I bought the belt of the washing machine just across.)
After fixing the washing machine, I immediately worked on the dryer since I needed it badly. (By the way, polarity is not an issue, I learned from the store vendor.) I realized I had no electrical tape at that moment so I made do with a board folded in 3 parts forming a “z” so one terminal can be insulated from the other terminal and sealed the openings with a simple clear tape. When I tested the machine, it was like brand new!
Hubby was kidding, “lagay na tayo ng paskil ng washing machine at dryer repair?” (“we can now put a sign that says washing machine and dryer repair?”)

@yuuki, sure you can call me, I just can’t go with you.
I was glad that it was successful.
Looks like for washing machine and laundry dryer, if it’s not the capacitor it will be the motor that is usually the problem.

@Marvs, in my washing machine’s case the motor is fine. It is just the belt that had to be replaced.
Based on my experience, fixing this one does not need intense knowledge on electricity since there are only few wiring connection inside a laundry dryer

A hands-on. These days, we need to strengthen our creativity and resourcefulness to survive. This might just save the day in buying a new machine without exhausting the possible means to repair.

@dimaks, I believe so too. I was a fan of MacGyver back then.
I find it more stressful to bring the big machine out to a repairman and I did not want any repairman to come in my house.
You are amazing C5. I have not trouble yet here in PI but in the future, I will remember this post.
